Built-in lighting is the perfect way of illuminating the porch area. Have special decorative lamps for late evenings. Avoid the regular lighting that you use for the interiors. Keep the porch lighting dim to create an ideal ambiance. Make sure that the small lights illuminate each corner, so that the entire area is properly visible. Small chandeliers can also be used to beautify the porch.
You can make a real jungle right in your garden. Plant more palm trees and ferns. You can grow climbers and vines crawling over the walls and trees. Exotic varieties of flowering plants should be planted. You can add caves and rocks to the garden to give it more safari touch. Add animal figurines like deer, rabbits and peacocks. You can also place a bird house which will attract the birds to your garden. Their chirping will add life to your safari theme. You can also make a pool with a waterfall fountain to give it a more jungle look. Place duck or swan statues in the water.
I remember walking into this expansive apartment which looked like an old English woman stayed there. It had floral prints and contrasting paint colors that were subdued yet not keeping up with the times. Everything in it from the furniture to the showpieces, went against the entire home's set up. The one thing that did stand out quite boldly and might I add, in my face - was a center table with a smooth finished solid (possibly marble) that had three dolphins bathed in seaform color, standing back-to-back while the table's flat top balanced on their snouts. It was hideous to say the least. They probably should have gone with something more subtle like woodwork and engraved dolphins, and not something out of Alice in Wonderland.
