Check out your closet. What do you see in there mostly? Jeans and t-shirts or skirts, blouses, formal dresses? Well, if you like to be in your jeans for most of the days, it shows that you prefer a comfortable, casual style. On the other hand, if you like to "dress up" in skirts, blouses, it shows that you would prefer a house which has a lot of emphasis on aesthetics. In short, a modern dcor for the cool, casual ones, while a Victorian one for those who would like to use numerous elements to decorate their house!
Usually, a soft and neutral color scheme suits a loft apartment. Try to keep only one color for all the walls. For a traditional feel, hang some nice wooden frames with old photographs, or, collect some old posters and put them up. If you want your loft to look like a modern-day art gallery, then display a few contemporary paintings. You could also hang some attractive mirrors on the walls which will also make your loft look larger.
The next thing that we have to look at is the accessories which will help give a complete look to the house. Some of the accessories that gel well with the contemporary look are primitive sculptures and paintings, steel or glass display shelves, large paintings on brass colored frames, black and white photographs in lacquer frames, etc. You can also put up contemporary decorative lights above the dining table, in the living room, and even in the bedroom. The fabrics used for curtains, bedspreads, and cushion covers can be cotton, jute, wool, linen, etc. Avoid using trims, tassels, skirts, fringes, etc. on bedspreads and curtains.
